order of diet soda? Major study linked aspartame to the big problems, drop in the sales

AuthorRick D

, already that concern for the epidemics ravaging the country, the demand and sales of diet soda have sunk as consumers try to make better decisions. As reported yesterday, aspartame (the main sweetener in diet soda) is one of the most dangerous ingredients used in our food supply, causing seizures and a host of other health problems.

In a new study conducted by more than ten years and sampling 60,000 women, has been shown that women who drink two or more diet drinks per day have a lot more cardiovascular disease and the rates are more likely to die from the disease.

30 Percent more likely to have a heart problems ...

In the largest study of its kind, of the University of Iowa: Compared

with women who never or rarely consume diet drinks, those who consume two or more times a day are 30 percent more likely to have a cardiovascular event (heart attack or stroke] and 50 percent more likely to die of disease related.

This is one of the largest studies on this topic, and our results are consistent with some previous data, particularly those linking diet drinks to the metabolic syndrome, says Dr. Ankur Vyas, the principal investigator of the study.

The association persisted even after the researchers adjusted the data to take into account the demographic characteristics and other cardiovascular risk factors, including body mass index, smoking, hormone therapy, physical activity, energy intake, the intake of salt, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and sugar consumption of sugary drinks.

On average, women who consumed two or more diet drinks per day were smaller, more likely to be smokers, and had a higher prevalence of diabetes, high blood pressure, and increased body mass index.

Sales slips Sosa ...

Fortunately, this study comes on the heels of reports of sales already slides of diet soda, one of the largest markets the aspartame.

According to Time magazine:

One of the reasons for the reduction could be a growing awareness of the obesity epidemic in the USA and growing concerns over the health of sugar-sweetened beverages. According to Reuters, according to industry experts the beverage industry is shrinking in the counting. Even the diet branded beverages have suffered a loss of sales with the concern by the artificial sweeteners.

Whatever the reason for the decline, the new study should only add fuel to the movement of the artificial sweeteners. There are a lot of natural sweeteners that people could choose which are healthier than aspartame. Click here to obtain a practical guide to natural sweeteners.

Another important note is that the overall sales of soda that lower also means that fewer people are exposed to GM (the majority) from high-fructose corn syrup that carries a whole series of health risks.
