How Cancer Shaped Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Life and Work

The name Ruth Bader Ginsburg became almost synonymous with strength and stamina as she rose to prominence in judicial and feminist circles throughout her long career. Famously nicknamed the Notorious RBG and known for her grueling fitness regimen, the late Supreme Court justice also struggled with cancer and other health issues for the better part of her time on the bench — culminating with her death on Sept. 18 at the age of 87 of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer.Ginsburg’s health issues became public in 1999, six years after her appointment to the Supreme Court, when she had surgery for early-stage colon cancer. We're Ready to Spring Into Gear With Trader Joe's Protein-Packed Bone Broths

Alert, alert! Trader Joe's sells protein-packed organic bone broth, and it's a must-have in your home. Antibiotic-free, hormone-free, and made from free-range chicken bones and grass-fed beef bones, these delicious broths are only $6 apiece, and their health benefits are worth way more.

Each broth contains 10 grams of protein and 40 to 45 calories per one-cup serving. There's no fat and little-to-no carbs. Both containers are made up of two and a half servings (see the full nutrition facts in the Instagram slide show above). The ingredients are simple and all organic: beef or chicken broth, onions, apple cider vinegar, garlic, sea salt, and parsley.

In case you need a refresher, bone broth is made by simmering the bones and connective tissues of an animal for hours. The collagen in this broth can aid in digestion and gut health. Bone broth, by the way, is also Paleo-approved! (Note: You can have it on the keto diet, but be wary of the protein count when you're looking to stay in ketosis.) You can cook with it and even sip it like tea.
Prices and products may vary by Trader Joe's location.
