However, we do know that there is one drink that can help you decrease any of the bloat you are feeling in your body, leaving you feeling slim and lean. According to our medical expert board members Tammy Lakatos Shames, RDN, CDN, CFT, and Lyssie Lakatos, RDN, CDN, CFT, also known as The Nutrition Twins, the best drink to get lean is actually green tea with mint. Hot or iced, this drink will help you debloat and slim down in no time.

"Green tea with mint is refreshing and delicious, so you'll want to keep sipping, helping to keep you hydrated," says The Nutrition Twins. "Maintaining proper fluid balance is important when you're looking to get lean—it reduces the amount you eat and increases fat burning. And as you sip this minty refresher throughout the day, it will help to fill your stomach so you won't make the common mistake of confusing thirst for hunger and consuming extra calories. An additional bonus is that green tea contains caffeine which also suppresses appetite."

Green tea, in particular, has properties that assist your body in slimming down your physique.

"Research shows that green tea has thermogenic properties also from the tea's caffeine content and from a potent antioxidant called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)," say The Nutrition Twins. "EGCG increases brown fat—a fat you actually want on your body because it's metabolically active and boosts metabolism."

They also reference a study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition which states that "green tea has metabolism-boosting and fat-oxidizing properties that can help to promote weight loss and stave off weight gain." Four to five servings (about 5 oz. each) is all it will take to reap these benefits.

Along with helping you slim down, green tea has other benefits that can improve your mentality around food which, according to the Nutrition Twins, will help you make healthier dietary choices throughout the day.

Green tea contains the amino acid L-theanine, which brings on a mental calmness, yet alertness, a mindset that gives you a leg up when you're confronted by tempting food options," say The Nutrition Twins. But green tea isn't the only healthy powerhouse of this particular drink. The mint also helps with digestion, debloating, and keeping you lean.

"Mint contains the anti-inflammatory antioxidant rosmarinic acid which calms your digestive tract and eases indigestion, assisting in a flatter stomach, possibly by improving the flow of bile through the stomach, to speed and ease digestion," say The Nutrition Twins.
