Dr. Fauci Just Said "Be Careful" of Doing This

The coronavirus cases were going down, as the Delta wave receded. But that was last month. Now, cases are rising again, albeit slowly. Are we in for a brutal winter? With this in mind, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical advisor to the President and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, spoke with Ted Koppel in an interview that aired on yesterday's CBS Sunday Morning. Read on for his life-saving pieces of advice—and to ensure your health and the health of others, don't miss these Sure Signs You've Already Had COVID.

Dr. Fauci Warned Cases Are At an "Unacceptable" Level

Koppel quoted "an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins University. The question was raised when does the pandemic end? And she said, 'It doesn't end. We just stopped caring. Well, we care a little less.'" "We are now at 70 to 75,000 cases a day and over a thousand deaths," said Dr. Fauci in response. "That is an unacceptable point to say, we've got to live with it. Absolutely. If you get it way, way, way, way down below that—well below 10,000 a day—that may be something that we can ultimately live with. So to say that, yes, we're just going to stop caring. We gotta be careful" and don't "stop caring when it's still killing a thousand people a day in the United States."

Surgeon General Warns Winter is Coming

"The good news is that we are certainly well down from the peaks that we had during the Delta wave earlier this year in the late summer," said Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy yesterday morning on Fox News Sunday. "But as winter does approach, people do go indoors and the virus has also better able to transmit in cold dry air. So we know that increases the possibility that there will be spread. A couple of things that are critical though, for people to keep in mind," he said. "Number one is if you are vaccinated, your chances of both getting sick and transmitting the virus to someone else are much, much lower. So this makes it all the more important as winter approaches to get vaccinated. And second, if you are eligible to get a booster shot, it's especially helpful. If you go ahead and do that now as winter approaches again, and as people get prepared for the holidays. So we should be prepared for the fact that there may be an uptick in cases that we see in various parts of the country with cold weather. But what has held true for the last year is still true, which is that vaccines still give you a high degree of protection, especially against the worst outcomes of COVID like hospitalization and death."

Dr. Fauci Said Here's the Difference Between COVID and the Flu

"A couple of years ago, it was not uncommon for us to lose 30,000 Americans a year to the flu, right?" said Koppel. "Is that an acceptable level?" "No, it's not," said Dr. Fauci. "The difference between influenza and COVID-19 is that we don't have a very good vaccine against influenza. So we cannot accept a high level of deaths to COVID-19 when we have a vaccine that could prevent them."

Dr. Fauci Was Asked if Things Would Have Been Different Without Trump

Koppel asked if the outcome of the pandemic would have been different had someone other than Trump been President. "The answer to that is yes, but when you have leadership denying that something is as serious as it is, then you have a real problem. So in that respect, it could have gone differently. ….For example, one of the things that to me was most difficult to accept as a, we put together a good plan for how we were going to try and dampen down the spread of infection early on thinking that that was accepted by everybody. And then the next day, the president saying 'Free Michigan, free Virginia.' What I didn't quite understand what the purpose of that was except to put this misplaced perception about people's individual rights. To make a decision that supersedes societal safety. That to me is one of the things that I think went awry in all of this. … I was sort of shocked and then I didn't speak to for some time after that, but it was at that point that I realized that I would have to just get out there myself and say things that clearly were going to be contradictory. I'm not totally sure of what the president was referring to. That it was much worse than we're saying it was, that's not going to go away tomorrow. It's not going to disappear like magic. Cause you know, this virus is going to disappear then unfortunately, that alienated me among certain people in the White House."

When Should I Take Creatine?

Creatine is probably the most well-researched supplement on the market today. Numerous studies have found positive adaptations in strength, power and muscle mass thanks to creatine supplementation—especially when it's combined with resistance training. Although the benefits of creatine are well-known to lifters, the best time to take it isn't common knowledge. Which leads us to some important questions:     Does an optimal time for consuming creatine exist?     If it does, should you take it before or after your workout? According to a new study published in the Journal of Exercise and Nutrition, the timing of creatine ingestion does indeed play a role in getting bigger and stronger. Creatine supplementation before resistance training increases muscular strength and lean muscle mass. Interestingly, taking creatine immediately after lifting weights results in greater muscle growth than taking it immediately before. However, in terms of strength gains, no difference betw
