On Halloween, a popular brand of sweets and snacks issued a recall of multi-pack cupcakes for the presence of strange foreign material that a supplier said may have made it inside the cupcakes. On Thursday, that recall was expanded to include a full list of other products the company is pulling, for a total of nine recalled foods in total. Find out whether this affects you or your family.
Tastykakes' parent company, Flowers Foods, Inc. of Georgia, announced last Sunday a voluntary recall of three varieties of Tastykake cupcakes: Chocolate flavored, cream-filled chocolate, and buttercreme iced cream-filled chocolate, which they noted had all been sold as packages of six two-packs.

This first Tastykake recall was initiated because an ingredients supplier had advised the company of the "potential presence of tiny metal fragments of metal mesh wire," per the company's announcement. The original recalled Tastykake snacks had been distributed in the following U.S. locations: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia. As a result, Walmart, Target, and Giant Eagle were among the major retailers who responded by pulling the Tastykake cupcakes from shelves.
On Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published an amended announcement to expand that recall wider. Flowers Foods, Inc. has now recalled various-sized packages of Tastykake Krimpets filled with butterscotch, cream, and jelly. The Tastykake Krimpets had been distributed to the same areas listed above.
The company states that no illness or injuries had been reported as of the publication dates of their two recall announcements. "Best By" dates for these Tastykake products range between November and December 2021, and UPC numbers for the recalled products are available here.
