Costco Is Selling a Bulk Size of This Award-Winning Breakfast Food

Costco has quite the selection of frozen foods, many of which become household favorites. But did you know that one of the beloved breakfast items on the warehouse freezer aisle was also named one of the best new grocery foods in the 2022 Eat This, Not That! Food Awards?

The Folded JUST Egg was named the "Best Healthy Plant-Based Breakfast" in this year's awards, which were announced in early January. While these folded plant eggs are available at stores like Walmart and Whole Foods, Costco is now selling them in a box of 18. Instagram account @costcosisters posted about the frozen find in late February, showing off the large supply inside the freezer.

And the comments on the post were largely positive. For example, one person said their vegan mom "absolutely loves" the product, while another said it was "bomb" with rice and soy sauce.

While other retailers carry boxes of four folded eggs for about $4, the boxes at Costco contain 18 folded eggs for around $15. That's a difference of about $1 for each egg vs. around $0.83 for each egg. It looks like this deal is only available inside warehouses, however; no JUST Egg product is currently listed on Costco.com.

Why do we love the Folded JUST Egg?

JUST isn't new to the grocery store breakfast world, but one of its newest offerings makes eating a plant-based meal in the morning even easier. Its folded egg patties are made with mung beans, turmeric, and more ingredients. Each one has 100 calories, 7 grams of fat, and 7 grams of protein. Jule Upton, a registered dietitian and member of the Eat This, Not That! Medical Expert Board, chose them as a winner because they have a "good calorie count, more protein than a medium egg, and no added sugar."

Wrapped in a paper towel, all it takes to heat one up is about 1 minute 30 seconds in the microwave. They can also go in the toaster straight from the freezer; in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes; or in the skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. Then they're ready to serve in a burrito, on a sandwich, in a salad bowl, or any other way JUST recommends in its cookbook.
